Get Active Get Cycling

Get Active Get Cycling delivers a wide range of cycling opportunities across the whole of County Durham, including weekly led cycle rides, family cycle rides and many more.

These rides are suitable for beginner and intermediate level cyclists. If you don’t have a bike, don’t worry, Get Active can can loan all participants a bike and helmet for the duration of each session.

Description Get Active Get Cycling aims to encourage more people to cycle more often and involves weekly cycle tours, cycling taster sessions and district wide cycle events. Get Active currently deliver a series of weekly fun, safe and enjoyable cycle tours at various locations, using the network cycle tracks running through the district. Each tour is led by qualified cycle marshalls. If you don’t have a bike but would like to come along and join in the fun, don’t worry, Get Active can provide you with a bike and helmet to make sure you don’t miss out totally for free.
Other Info Get Active can loan participants bikes and helmets entirely free of charge. All rides take place off road in traffic free locations.

Durham Big Ride has teamed up with Get Active to encourage more people throughout the Durham region to enjoy cycling.
Get Active has regular cycle sessions across the Durham area for beginners and families to help then ‘get back into the saddle’ and enjoy some great countryside as well.
“The scheme is a wonderful way of less active people out and about and Durham Big Ride is a great ‘goal’ for families and individuals to aim for while enjoying the company of other like-minded people” Said Colin Wilkes, Durham Big Ride Director.
