The Blue Giraffe Bicycles Falling Leaves Sportive features a new route for 2014. There are two options on the day, a 35 mile flat route and a 55 mile challenge route with 856 metres of climbing. Both rides utilise the same route initially, splitting after the first feed station. The challenge route heads to the climb to the village of Osmotherley and then on over the moors via a series of climbs to Hawnby and arrives at the top of Newgate bank. The route then heads down Bilsdale to climb Clay Bank and return to the start. Both routes will be fully signed with our ‘bgb’ arrows.

The start area has toilet and changing facilities. Our mechanic will also be on hand to help with any last minute problems. A selection of tyres and inner tubes along with other products will also be available to purchase. After signing on you will be given a number to be displayed on the front of your bike and a complementary gel. Both the routes have feed stations where you will be able to top up water bottles and grab some food to keep you going. We also will provide on route mechanic support and a broom waggon. We pride ourselves on the friendly atmosphere so after signing in at the end of your ride please stay a while and enjoy refreshments and a chat.

There is parking for 100 cars at the start area. Toilet and changing facilities are available in the sports club. Further parking is available a short distance away in Stewarts Park. There will be technical support available from our qualified mechanic at the start and support on route. The routes will be fully signed and have a feed stations at around half distance. A brand new event for 2014 to celebrate the Yorkshire Grand Depart of Le Tour!

We wanted to do something special to mark this huge occasion in Yorkshire and what better way than riding 101 miles of the 101st Tour de France, here on our own roads!

The event is not a one hit wonder, it will become part of the legacy of the Grand Tour and its visit to Yorkshire in 2014. We anticipate thousands of riders will take part and we’ve priced the event to be as accessible as possible to all without compromising the great features we offer.

The Ripon Tour Sportive will depart from Ripon Race Course (with camping available) and head out quickly to join the route of stage 1 of the 2014 Tour Route.

Over the 101 miles you will ride through the amazing North Yorkshire countryside on the same now hallowed roads as used in Le Tour the previous week. The roads will still be painted with the riders names and you too will feel like a Tour Star as you ascend these great climbs alongside thousands of other Sportive riders.

The short route at 40 miles takes in some spectacular scenery and a challenging climb to Lofthouse before an amazing long decent to join Le Tour route for a fast run in to the Ripon finish.

Full details will be launched on a specific event website very soon and online entry will be open from 1st December on the http://www.entrylive.com/ site.

Long Route £30   Short Route £25
